well well well...
Another week has quickly come and gone here in Santa Clara Place.
I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but I did get a job at PacSun, however, I wasn't getting ANY hours at work! I would have 2 call in shifts per week and they never needed me! It was so stressful because I felt a sense of secruity knowing that I had a job but it wasn't working out for me. I didn't want to go through the job hunt again, especially since we were already a month into project. I just didn't want to go try and have to tell the employers that I could only work for a few more weeks... Well lucky enough, The Lord provided! One of my roommates had told me that her work location was looking for more counselors since July is their busy month. So I went in to talk to the manager and filled out an application and left with hours to work the upcoming Monday to start my first day!!! It was amazing. So I now work at Mission Bay Sports Center, which is just a 5 minute walk from my condo! The MBSC holds week long camps for children and we get to take them out on the kiaks, paddle boards, catamarans and sailing - it's quite nice if I say so myself (haha). I can say that being on the water every single day with 60+ kids doing sports activities has been such a blessing, even if it means I'm getting 5 shades darker each day!!! Thank you Jesus for a job with good work hours.
The Tuesday of July 1st we had another MPD night which is just a night dedicated to contacting supporters, sending more letters and making phone calls. Which was totally needed in my case since I have no time during the day to do these extra things. I got to talk on the phone with some project people from the Walt Disney World Summer Project that I got to be a part of last summer. It was so refreshing and wonderful to hear their voices again! I can't help but think of them while I'm here because meeting them brought me to where I am now. A few of them have supported me this summer for my project and it overwhelmed my heart with joy. I'm so blessed by their friendships!
The next day, Storytellers (the ministry team I am on) got to lead the "project activity" in doing a training for the whole project. We got to lead and teach every one how important our personal testimonies are and what we can do to prepare/organize our testimonies when we have to share them. We went over things like: what to share with specific people, having a theme to go off of, going in an order of what your life looked like before Christ, after Christ, etc. etc. So that was really fun! And I think it went amazingly well. Not to brag or anything :) hehe...
The 4th of July was a blast! I got to have the day off, which was nice. The group split mid day, half went to the Giants game and half stayed in Santa Clara. Me and some friends got ready together, we did our hair, put some lipstick on and got to have some really great girl time. We also had gotten our faces painted and threw some glitter on, because why not? :D The girls in the condo below us had a BBQ for everyone and prepared some delicious food for us. So we played some music, ate and hung out for a while - then we all left to the beach to play some beach volleyball for a few hours :) it was such a nice day! Although it wasn't complete until I got to eat a hotdog because that's just the American thing to do on the 4th of July (hahaha)... But the beach was SO packed! Felt like all of San Diego was in Mission Beach, it was exciting though. So after we spent the evening at the beach we relocated to the bay and had THE BEST view and got to watch like 6 firework shows going on all over San Diego. It was magical. To be here, to be here with the amazing friends I've made, to celebrate America's freedom... It was the most perfect day, I couldn't imagine spending it anywhere else.
And it was the perfect way to end week 6. I hope you all got to enjoy some hotdogs and fireworks too! :)
In Christ,
Priscilla
