hello!
{ Currently writing to you from a local coffee shop called Better Buzz in Mission Beach }
First off, so sorry it seems that I have been MIA on social media and even texting! It's been extremely busy since the moment we arrived in San Diego on the 27th. We also have not had WiFi at our condos so when we have time we have to relocate to somewhere that does! But we're looking into hooking up a router sometime this week so that's good news!
California is beautiful. I've always loved it here. The location we live is simply amazing. To the right of my condo is the Pacific Ocean and to the left of us is the bay. So far we've been really busy job hunting. It hasn't been that easy... We were split up into different locations to start meeting hiring managers and starting applications. More than half of us (100 students and 20 staff) have found jobs already and some are still looking. I'm still in the small group searching for a job, so if you would be in prayer with me that God will provide one for me - I would really appreciate that! I've done A LOT of online and paper applications and also had a few interviews already. I think the waiting game is the hardest thing in this process! But God is good. :)
We've all been trying to get to know each other and mostly remember everyone's names! ;D The student's here are from ALL over the US so it's been really awesome getting to know people from other places! I live in a condo with 11 other girls, 6 in my room and 4 in the other - 2 bathrooms... LOL. Yes, the struggle is real. But I love my roommates, they're amazing. We recently had evangelism training and then went out in our DNA groups (groups we've been specifically assigned to for the summer) on the beach to invite people to our first Friday Night Live. FNL is something we host every week to bring the community in and get to know our coworkers and the people around us, it includes some worship, fellowship, a message and a fun activity to do after. For our first afters event, we had a Cereal Social and it was a huge success!!
I also have a discipler, which is someone who will be mentoring me over the summer. Her name is Megan and she is WONDERFUL!!! I love being in her group. And the other two girls with us are Janna and Kim, we're all a perfect fit for each other. Each of us have also been split up into our ministry teams. These teams have been thought and prayed over weeks before we arrived, the staff prayed for us and put us where they felt God knew we would be used and grow spiritually - and this includes our DNA groups! I have been put on the Storytellers team which is a group where we share the gospel through media. I've been selected the head photographer (YAY) for project, so my main job is to capture the memories we make this summer to share with others and tell people about what God is doing here in San Diego. We also are responsible for the end of project Memory Video, testimony videos and again just making God known through media. I'm really excited!!
I haven't been in the ocean yet, well just my feet... But I did however get my first sunburn EVER. And that was awful (haha)! I had no idea how to take care of a sunburn so that was quite an experience.
Today half of the group went on campus to start meeting students and sharing the gospel so we will be meeting soon to talk about how that went! Tomorrow is my day to go so I'm so excited to share with you how that went in the next week or so! So if you could be praying that I would get a job, I would be so thankful!
My heart is on fire to grow deeper with The Lord this summer, every day is exciting and we are all so fired up to share the gospel and meet the local community of Mission Beach and San Diego. I'm expecting God to move in enormous ways in each of our lives and through the city and the people that get to hear His name for the first time. This journey has been amazing so far, so thanks again for walking with me through this experience. I will update you very soon! Many blessings! Xx
In Christ,
Priscilla
